ARC Review: DIRTY FILTHY FIX by Laurelin Paige

November 21, 2017

Dirty Filthy Fix by Laurelin Paige
I like sex. Kinky sex. The kinkier the better.

Every day, it’s all I think about as I serve coffee and hand out business agendas to men who have no idea I’m not the prim proper girl they think I am.

With a day job as the secretary to one of New York’s most powerful men, Hudson Pierce, I have to keep my double life quiet. As long as I do, it’s not a problem.

Enter: Nathan Sinclair. Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t come close to describing how hot he is. And that’s with his clothes on. But after a dirty, filthy rendezvous, I accept that if we ever see each other again, he’ll walk right by my desk on his way to see my boss without recognizing me.

Only, that’s not what happens. Not the first time I see him after the party. Or the next time. Or the time after that. And as much as I try to stop it, my two worlds are crashing into each other, putting my job and my reputation at risk.

And all I can think about is Nathan Sinclair.

All I can think about is getting just one more dirty, filthy fix.

MY REVIEW

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story was quick, hot, and absolutely filthy. This was the closest thing to smut I’ve ever read from Laurelin Paige and it was a delicious delight. Trish and Nathan weren’t looking for anything serious. She wants to be free and everyone seems to want to pin her down. As a member of the Open Door, she’s free to indulge in all the kink she likes. While at play, she had four rules:

  1. Never go home with anyone
  2. Never take off her mask
  3. Never give out her personal info besides her first initial
  4. No penetration

These rules are what has been keeping her safe and they actually made a lot of sense to me. So when Nathan comes to the club one night, why do all of these ‘safe’ rules seem to go out the window?

I really liked this story. Although it was short, it was still fun, layered, and intense. The chemistry between Nathan and Trish was beyond steamy. I think what I liked most about this was that the author didn’t rush the facts in order to give us a happily ever after. She allowed the characters to dictate their pace, she showcased Trish’s reluctance to tie herself down, and she illuminated Nate’s interest in building upon what they shared. I think it would have been a bit more believable if I had gotten his perspective, but I’m greedy so… I’m pretty satisfied with their happy for now because it kind of leaves the door open for more of a story in the future. *wink*

MY REVIEW

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

You know when you start a book and realize that you’re missing something? You’re dumped right in the middle of a storyline you know nothing about? Well, that’s what happened to me here. I really should have read book 1 first. Ah well, lesson learned.

Addie and Tom are high schoolers in love. Intense, forever, crazy kind of first love. But their road to forever isn’t going to be easy. The trouble that must have existed in book 1 has followed them into book 2. Their worst nightmare is still haunting them and they have no idea how to get free from it. Killers are after them to find a necklace and no one is safe.

This was a first read for me from Lindsay Marie Miller and I really liked it. I’ve never read a combination of young adult romance with suspense before so this was a unique experience. The story doesn’t really feel like it’s over and I can only assume the author will be continuing this series. I loved Tom so I can’t complain about seeing more of him ;)

ARC Review: BEDDING THE BILLIONAIRE by London Hale

Bedding the Billionaire by London Hale
She thinks they’re a mistake.

I've spent my whole life working toward my goals, being the best I can be at my job. Arrogant, persistent, pain in the skirt billionaire Colin Huntley isn't going to change that, even if he is the hottest man I've ever had the pleasure of working with. And pleasure is definitely something the man can deliver, without question. Our single, mind blowing night together was a mistake, though. A one-night stand brought on by a lapse in judgment. One I won't make again, so long as I stay strong as he starts his chase. Because when Colin decides he wants something, he gets it. And he's decided he wants me.

He always gets what he wants.

Sloane McLaren may be the best VP I’ve ever had, but she taunts me every day in her tight little skirts and her librarian-fantasy glasses. Especially since that night. The one when I had her in my bed, in my shower, bent over my kitchen counter. I thought we were finally on the same page...until I woke up to cold sheets and an empty bed. She may assume it’s business as usual in the office, but I didn’t build my billion-dollar company on assumptions. I want her back in my bed, and I’m willing to play dirty to get her there.

ARC Review: CONSENT by Charmaine Pauls

November 15, 2017

Consent by Charmaine Pauls

When Gabriel broke down my door, he took over my body and life. Never with force, but always with clever manipulation. He stripped me of my independence, my defenses, and my clothes and turned me into an addict for his touch.

Once, I had dreams and a future. Now, I have fears, scars, and insatiable needs. I’m damaged beyond repair, but if I’m to survive the most dangerous man in Johannesburg, I can’t allow him to break me, because broken toys are destined for the garbage dump.

MY REVIEW

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Picking up where Dubious left off, Val has run off and Gabriel is desperate to find her. It’s literally life or death for her and her brother, but Gabriel refuses to let anything happen to her and is willing to do anything to keep the owner of his heart safe. Even if that means going against everything he once was. Even if it means the end of life as he knows it.

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. The author found a fan in me from the first book and these characters held on for their life. I couldn’t let them go. I didn’t want to. With Val, Gabriel became the man he never thought he could be and it was a beautiful thing to watch his transformation. As for Val, she really came into her own. She showed strength, versatility and perseverance in the face of almost certain failure. Her fear and anger fueled her survival and I couldn’t help but admire her. These characters together seemed unsuited at first. Seriously, he was all that was bad and she was so pure and innocent. But somehow these two worked. I was completely rooting for their happy ending and after a hard-fought battle, these two found a way to come out somewhat unscathed.

I’m truly sad to be at the end of this duet. This author’s story was well-written, suspenseful, erotic, and simply incredible. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for whatever she dreams up next. If you’re a fan of mafia romance, romantic suspense, dark romance, or any type of romance featuring an alluring anti-hero and his equally enticing heroine, then you don’t want to miss out on this one.
