MY REVIEW

I’d like to first thank Pam Nelson and Jo Lawless for pointing me in the direction of this book. Fan-freaking-tastic!!

I’ve got to give praise where praise is due. Aaron L. Speer created one heck of an introduction to a new paranormal series. A lot of people categorized this as a romance, and while there were some romantic elements to be found throughout the story, it read more like a thriller to me.

So what is it about? Well, Alex and Lauren are BFFs and roomies. Alex’s boyfriend, Matt, rounds out these 3 Muskateers. Lauren’s new obsession is a mysterious club owner by the name of Dante. But Dante has no interest in her. It’s Alex who has captured his attention and she is absolutely captivated by him. Nothing hinky happens and Alex stays true to her man. However, Matt doesn’t trust Dante and his jealousy drives him to attempt to discredit him to Alex. He’s willing to do any and everything to get Alex away from Dante. Lauren becomes involved with a man named Ryan who is willing to let her use him to gain Dante’s attention. It doesn’t work but she continues a relationship with Ryan anyway because he’s strangely endearing. Too bad she can’t really remember anything about their relationship. Dante is a vampire and over 200 years old. He’s got a love for humanity and refuses to see humans as food. His beliefs go against the laws set out by his kind and for that he is shunned by the vampire royal house.

Other forces are at work and a lot of evil shenanigans are going on. The author did a great job developing his characters and building the plot. From one scene to the next, I didn’t know what to expect and there were many times I was left stunned by the turn of events. From ‘good guy’ to ‘bad guy’, I’m most certainly intrigued and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I’m crossing my fingers that the author will give more of a romance between Dante and Alex because their chemistry was intense in this one.
