Review: Sojourn

Sojourn Sojourn by Cecilia London
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My heart still hurts.

heartbroken

Every time Caroline succumbed to her memories further fractured my heart. I was petrified each time she fell asleep and yet I was excited to see everyone again.

This story was about loss, pain, grief, love, strength, perseverance, and determination.

Part of me wondered why Caroline was willing to accept Murdock's word. His job was to torture her, both mentally and physically. Obviously some deaths were real because she saw and heard them. But with regards to Jack? Her children? Even Christine and Tom? She was a former U.S. Attorney, so why did she believe circumstantial evidence (although the evidence was pretty strong)?

But I guess that's the point. Murdock unfortunately succeeded in killing Caroline's hope. And that just broke me. Throughout this book her grief was tangible and I think she's suffering from PTSD.

The highlight for me (other than every flashback with Jack) was the end.

happy

I'm so freaking happy right now!!

Now I'm off to read Phoenix because I have to see what Cecilia London has planned for me.

XO
